Parking Update

How we get around Victoria is changing and so are our parking and curbside needs.

We are updating our parking policy to modernize parking regulations for private developments and improve curbside management to support more affordable housing in Victoria, address growing demand for curb space and align with City policy.

Phase one - We are here!
Industry partner meetings are underway with transportation, accessibility, business and development groups to review and refine proposed parking regulation updates for private developments. The City will also be working with a consultant to collect curb use and regulation data to inform the development of future residential parking programs.

You can review the proposed parking regulation in the Report to Council on September 18, 2025 and learn more by reading the parking FAQs.

Phase two
The second phase will include public engagement on proposed changes to residential parking updates informed by phase one.

Managing curb use is about more than vehicle parking – it’s how we use public space for transit, cycling, patios and more. To make sure we get parking updates right, any major changes will be informed by engagement, received by Council and rolled out in phases that will include monitoring and evaluation.
